OSU claims some strange world records, like the longest tractor run in 2003 and the longest poetry reading in 1960.

The Beavers first mascot was a bulldog, though it was unofficial. Other unofficial mascots included Jimmie the coyote and former pastor Dr. John Bell.

OSU has a student organization called the Hydrophiles to advance the knowledge and understanding of all aspects of water.

The Beavers are two-time Pineapple Bowl champions, a New Year’s Day bowl game that used to be played in Honolulu, Hawaii.

OSU won the 1942 Rose Bowl, the only Rose Bowl played outside Pasadena, Calif. The move was because of blackout on the west coast after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
