A winter storm watch for the western half of Missouri has been expanded to include Boone County and the remainder of the state to the east.

The watch is in effect in the Columbia area for Saturday evening through

Sunday morning, with 4 to 6 inches of snow expected.

Nearly the entire state of Missouri is now under a winter storm watch.

A bulletin from the National Weather Service in St. Louis, issued Friday afternoon, forecasts snow to move into parts of central Missouri by late Saturday afternoon.

Precipitation is expected to be all snow for areas in Missouri north of

Interstate 44, with sleet mixing in farther south.

The Weather Service noted that a small change in the forecast path of the storm could change snow amounts.

A winter storm watch means severe winter weather is possible, but not a certainty.
