The Missouri softball team will begin its home schedule today with a doubleheader against the UMKC Kangaroos.
Because of snow and cold, the games will be played indoors at the Dan Devine Pavilion, with the first game set for 11 a.m.
The Tigers lead 42-1 in the all-time series with UMKC, with the Tigers’ only loss coming in 1997 when they lost 7-5.
The Tigers are coming off a 2-3 finish at the Easton Tiger Classic last weekend, where they were led by senior catcher Kathy Masterson.
Masterson, who was named to the Easton Tiger Classic All-Tournament team, went 7-for-12 throughout the tournament, hitting two doubles and one triple.
BLUES: Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo each had a goal and three assists to lead the San Jose Sharks to a 6-5 win over the Blues in St. Louis.
Mike Grier and Patrick Marleau both had a goal and an assist for San Jose, which has won the first two games of its season-high, eight-game road trip.
Bill Guerin had a hat trick for St. Louis, giving him 25 goals for the season. It was Guerin’s seventh NHL hat trick and first since March 3, 2004, when he was with Dallas.
DOG SHOW: An English springer spaniel with a preference for chicken-and-garlic treats prevented America’s top dog event from turning into “The Cosby Show.”
Diamond Jim jumped into handler Kellie Fitzgerald’s arms after being picked for best in show Tuesday night at the Westminster Kennel Club.
Dressed in a glittering copper top that perfectly matched her brown-and-white dog, Fitzgerald cuddled her 6-year-old certified therapy dog.
Diamond Jim beat out a Dandie Dinmont terrier co-owned by Bill Cosby, as he did at the big AKC/Eukanuba event in December.
