MU’s student government has begun a search for a student representative to the University of Missouri System Board of Curators. Missouri Students Association president Rachel Anderson said applications will be collected through April 4.
Anderson said a bill in the Missouri Senate that would give the student representative a vote on the board would not affect the selection process.
Maria Kerford, a graduate student at UMSL, is the current representative. She said the position can demand up to 35 hours of work a week. “You definitely have to know how to manage your time,” she said.
The next student representative will be working with the successor to outgoing UM System President Elson Floyd.
Applications will be sent to the Intercampus Student Council, an association of student organization leaders on the four campuses. The council will select three finalists. Those names will be sent to Gov. Matt Blunt, who will make the appointment.
Application forms are available in room A022 of MU’s Brady Commons.
