Fundraising to restore the Missouri Theatre and expand it into a center for the arts has topped $1.58 million, the theatre's capital campaign committee announced this morning.
The money was raised during the campaign's "silent" portion. A "public" segment is under way, with the goal for the entire project being $6.6 million.
"We have a community that recognizes the arts and appreciates the arts," said Axie Hindman, who is leading the campaign with Kevin Gibbens of First National Bank.
