PrintColumbia Independent School is using a new scholarship program to broaden its visibility and attract mid-Missouri students who might not have considered attending.
The Founders Scholarship Program is merit-based and available for students entering grades eight through 12 who are well-rounded academically and have extra-curricular interests.
“One of the reasons we are launching it is that we feel there is not a broad awareness of what kind of programs we offer at CIS or the benefits many people can find from attending CIS,” said Head of School Trent Amond.
Under the program, one full scholarship for $10,990 and partial scholarships in amounts yet to be determined will be awarded and renewed as long as the student is in good standing and contributing to the CIS community.
Interested students must register by Thursday to take an exam Saturday morning.
Exam scores will determine a pool of semi-finalists who will be interviewed, along with their parents, by a committee of faculty members. Recipients of the scholarship will be selected based on academic, physical or creative excellence and ability to contribute to the CIS community.
Columbia Independent School was founded in fall 1996 by a group of families. CIS serves students K-12 and is split into lower and upper schools.
