The Missouri Tigers know they will be playing a postseason game in the WNIT. But the who, when and where are still to be decided.

“We are very excited to still have the opportunity to play,” Missouri coach Cindy Stein said in an e-mail. “I have seniors that want to go out on a winning note and a very determined group of returners who have a strong desire to get postseason experience. We are matched up in a highly competitive bracket and look forward to the challenge.”

Missouri (17-13) will play the winner of the first-round Wyoming-Nevada game, which will be played at 8 tonight in Laramie, Wyo.

If Nevada wins, the Tigers will play 2 p.m. Sunday at Mizzou Arena. If Wyoming wins, the Tigers will travel to Wyoming and play either on Sunday or Monday, Stein said.

“We do not know much about either team,” Stein said. “We do know that Wyoming has a couple terrific players in the Bolerjack twins who are from Columbia. Both teams did very well in their respective conferences and have a lot of talent.”

Nevada (17-14), finished 10-6 in the Western Athletic Conference and is making its first-ever postseason appearance after finishing third in the league Wyoming (21-9) finished its season tied for second in the Mountain West Conference with an 11-5 record. This is the Cowgirls’ second consecutive WNIT appearance and fourth overall. Wyoming juniors Jodi and Amy Bolerjack played basketball for Hickman High School, and as seniors in 2004, helped the Kewpies to a 32-2 record and a runner-up finish in the state tournament.

This is Missouri’s seventh postseason appearance in the past eight seasons. This will be the Tigers’ fourth time in the WNIT and their first appearance since advancing to the quarterfinals in 2003. The team is 3-3 all-time in the tournament.

After expanding to 48 teams this year, this is the first time all 31 conferences in the nation will be represented in the tournament. The Tigers earned the Big 12 Conference automatic berth, and are one of 16 teams to have received a first-round bye in the tournament.
