Glen Metropolit and Doug Weight scored in a 17-second span in the second period to help the St. Louis Blues stop the Dallas Stars’ four-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory on Monday night.

With the game tied at 1, Metropolit put the Blues in front with his 14th goal from the right circle at 13:44 after a turnover by Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas. Weight’s deflection for his 15th of the season at 14:01 extended St. Louis’ lead to 3-1.

Lee Stempniak scored two goals, including an empty-netter with 24 seconds left, and Curtis Sanford stopped 28 shots for the Blues, who won three of the four meetings this season between the teams.

Mike Ribeiro and Brenden Morrow scored for the Stars, who remain at 102 points, four behind the Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks.

Dallas had gone 10-1-1 over its previous 12 games to put the pressure

on Anaheim, but the Stars have only three games left to overtake the Ducks.

St. Louis is 5-6-4 in its past 15 games and out of playoff contention.

COLUMBIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Katie McMahon pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the first game, and Columbia College swept a doubleheader against Harris-Stowe State University on Monday in St. Louis.

McMahon and the Cougars won the first game in five innings, 10-0, and then pitcher Meghan Bailey helped Columbia College to a 14-0 win in the second game — also in five innings.

Bailey pitched four innings, allowed three hits and struck out four for Columbia College (14-9, 6-0 conference).

Lindsey Williams led the offense in the first game, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Stephanie Stowe was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In the second game, Stowe was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, while Stephanie Kababie was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Cougars bring an eight-game winning streak home for a doubleheader against Missouri Baptist University at 2 p.m. today at Cougar Softball Field.

MU GYMNASTICS: The Tigers will travel to Berkeley, Calif., as the third seed for the April 14 NCAA West Regional at the University of California-Berkeley. No. 18 Missouri will face No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Utah, Washington, Sacramento State and host California-Berkeley.

Tigers sophomore Adrianne Perry qualified for last year’s NCAA Championships as an all-around competitor and narrowly missed All-America honors on beam. Perry will enter the West Regional as the nation’s 10th-ranked all-around competitor and is tied for 14th on vault, 30th on beam and 33rd on floor.

Last season, Missouri fell just short of qualifying for its first NCAA Championships with a third-place finish at the Southeast Regional.
