Two desktop computers, a laptop, a purse and an iPod were stolen early Thursday morning in a burglary at Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The items were stolen from the youth organization’s office at 800 N. Providence Road.

Mary Sloan, community relations director of the organization, said employees from Alarm Communication Center, located nearby, saw people carrying property out of Big Brothers Big Sisters early Thursday. They called police.

The office’s front door had been forced open, and drawers and cabinets had been ransacked.

Sloan said the organization called its insurance company, but an estimate of the loss was not available.

Columbia police were investigating the burglary.
