PrintOne victim is injured after being struck by a gun, police say.
The Columbia Police Department is searching for two men responsible for a home invasion robbery Friday night on Sylvan Lane.
According to a news release from the police, when the victim, a 32-year-old male, answered a knock at his door at 11:34 p.m., two men forced their way into the residence and demanded property. The victim was then struck in the head with a handgun by a suspect. The gun fired as it hit the victim, but no one was struck by the round, police said.
The suspects left the residence on foot, and nothing was taken from the residence, police said.
The victim was treated by paramedics at his home for the head wound, and he declined to be transported to the hospital. One woman and three children were present but were not injured.
One suspect was described as a 5-foot-7-inch thin man, wearing dark clothing including a hat and a handkerchief over his face. He had a dark colored handgun. The other suspect was described as a man of heavy build, 6 feet tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.
This case has been referred to the Columbia Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit for further follow-up investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers, 875-8477.
