Horseman holding clinic at Stephens

World-renowned horse trainer, instructor and judge Richard Shrake will put on a two-day western riding clinic for 24 Stephens College equestrian students and other local riders April 17 and 18.

Sharke will give a one-hour beginner’s riding lesson to two Stephens College community members who have never been horseback riding before. All community members are invited to attend the free session.

ROCK BRIDGE BOYS TENNIS: The Bruins beat Joplin 6-3 on Friday at Bethel Park to improve to 6-1 on the season. In singles, Joplin won at No. 1, but Rock Bridge swept the rest of the matches and won at No. 3 doubles.

MU SOFTBALL: Wet weather postponed the Tigers’ game against Oklahoma at University Field scheduled for Saturday. It will be made up in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. today.

COLUMBIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL: The William Woods softball tournament, which the Cougars were scheduled to play in this weekend in Jefferson City, was cancelled because of poor field conditions and will not be made up.

CHIEFS: Derrick Ross rushed for 119 yards and one touchdown in the Cologne Centurions’ 24-18 victory over the Hamburg Sea Devils on Saturday in Hamburg, Germany, opening day for NFL Europa.

Ross, allocated by the Kansas City Chiefs, scored on a 16-yard run in the second quarter. He also had three receptions for 25 yards.
