PrintThe Rock Bridge Bruins boys golf team was second and the Hickman Kewpies were third at the 14-team Helias Invitational on Monday in New Bloomfield.
Host Helias won with a 316, while the Bruins and Kewpies tied at 323, with Rock Bridge winning the tiebreaker for second on the fifth man score rule.
Hickman’s Chris Johnson was runner-up with a 78. Dan Cohnle led the Bruins with a 79.
MISSOURI WRESTLING: The Tigers, who placed third at the NCAA Championships, will be honored by Sen. Chuck Graham (D-Columbia) at 3 p.m. today on the Missouri Senate floor in Jefferson City.
MISSOURI WOMEN’S GOLF: The Tigers are in 10th after the first round of the Big 12 Conference Championships at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas. Sophomore Madde Augustsson’s 78 led Missouri, which shot 316 as a team. Augustsson is in a tie for 22nd and teammates freshman Julia Potter and senior Stephanie Wavro each shot 79s and are in a group tied for 30th. Texas A&M leads the tournament after shooting a 300. Oklahoma State, Baylor and Colorado are all tied for second at 308. The tournament will continue today with the final round scheduled for Wednesday.
GATEWAY PGA TOURNAMENT: The Columbia Country Club’s Scott Bess won the Gateway PGA Senior Division Tournament on April 9 at Norwood Hills. Bess, who shot a 74, beat out Daryl Hartig on the second playoff hole to win.
