The city of Columbia is inviting input from residents on what the city’s major capital projects should be in fiscal 2008.

City Manager Bill Watkins will hold a news conference and meeting on capital improvement planning at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the City Council chambers on the fourth floor of the Daniel Boone City Building. The public is welcome.

Capital projects generally include major construction efforts or large purchases that fall outside the realm of the normal city budget. City spokeswoman Toni Messina said this marks the first time the city manager has involved the public in early planning on capital priorities.

“The city manager is interested in having people know and register their opinions,” Messina said.
