PrintJacob Priday, a junior on the Missouri baseball team, was named the Co-Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on Monday. Priday was 6-for-11 with three home runs and nine RBIs in the Tigers’ three-game sweep of Texas Tech over the weekend at Taylor Stadium.
Priday shared the award with Texas A&M’s Blake Stouffer, who hit .500 with three home runs and nine RBIs last week against Baylor.
It is the second such award for a Tigers player this season. Sophomore Rick Zagone was named Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on April 9.
COLUMBIA COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Junior Katie McMahon was named American Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Year and six other Cougars were named to the All-American Midwest Conference teams on Sunday.
McMahon, Stephanie Stowe, Rachel Brawner and Chris Schoonover earned first-team honors while Stephanie Kababie, Meghan Bailey and Lindsey Williams received honorable mentions.
McMahon went 12-8 with an earned-run average of 1.40 during the regular season. In AMC play, she had six wins, 55 strikeouts and an 0.59 ERA. McMahon struck out 113 batters in 122 innings pitched while allowing just 31 walks.
McMahon, Brawner, Schoonover, Kababie, Williams, Jena Strobel and Lindsey Hume were also named to the academic all-conference team.
The Cougars will be the No. 3 seed in the NAIA Region V tournament. Columbia College will play Missouri Valley College at 2 p.m. May 8 in Springfield.
ROCK BRIDGE SOCCER: After two overtimes, the Bruins game at Smith-Cotton on Monday ended in a scoreless tie. Rock Bridge (5-5-4) outshot Smith-Cotton 14-4, had nine corner kicks to Helias’ three and saw Alex Litofsky hit the crossbar in the second half. Bruins goalkeepers Tiffany Harris and Katherine Harry combined for three saves.
