Between dogs and cats, I prefer … dogs. I don’t like litter boxes, and I like to go places and do things with my animals.
I got my start loving animals when … I was young. My dad was a conservation agent, so we often had bullfrogs in our bathtub, and my mom always had a baby deer.
If I could have any exotic pet, I’d want … a chimp. They have the ability to communicate with humans and it’s fascinating. It bothers me that they are used for testing.
When I was young, I wanted to be … a mommy with several children. Then later I wanted to be a psychologist. I like to help people, and that spills into the animals.
The first thing I do in the morning is … potty the animals. I have three dogs, three cats and a foster dog.
The best advice I’ve ever gotten … was in a poem about success. It was something along the lines of: Find success in small things, not money. You can’t buy something like a child’s first step. Witnessing a dog’s first step on grass is addictive. To see an animal who has never known love or touch grow to love humans is amazing.
I collect … angels. I especially like the Dreamsicles collection because they’re very simplistic. For Christmas I got one with a puppy over its shoulder.
One thing I wish scientists would invent is … something that tastes good and won’t put poundage on.
