A Columbia man was arrested at his home Wednesday on suspicion of promoting child pornography in the first degree.

A routine monthly investigation that searches for child molesters brought Clarence Arthur Tremaine, 32, to the attention of the Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes Task Force, said Boone County Sheriff’s Detective Andy Anderson.

The subsequent investigation took three months to obtain Tremaine’s computer, which was then forensically examined, according to a press release from the task force.

Detective Anderson said this process is one that is important to do accurately and not quickly.

Tremaine allegedly downloaded videos and then shared approximately 17 videos depicting prepubescent child molestations in a file-sharing program for others to view, according to the release.
