Hold Bush accountable for ideas that fell short

Two more of President Bush’s ideas don’t seem to be working.

First, his sending more troops to Iraq, thinking it would stop the violence. Instead it has only increased the death toll, which is now over 3,500, by giving more targets for the insurgents. If we can’t even secure Baghdad, how are we going to secure the rest of the country?

Second, Bush said by keeping troops in Iraq we up our fight on terrorism in Iraq. Instead, he has spread hate and violence to our country, as well as other parts of the world; as the planned attack on the Kennedy Airport has shown. Bush’s actions may be even turning the moderate Muslim against us, as violence breeds more violence.

Another alarming event was the government report that millions of dollars of oil are disappearing every day in Iraq. Many feel that the main reason we’re in Iraq is to protect our oil supply. Why is our president allowing this to happen? Is he trying to keep the oil price up for his rich oil friends? Could this oil be going to fuel terrorism? Why should our troops trade their blood for oil only to have it disappear?

We must demand answers from Bush and hold accountable his supporters when they are up for re-election! With the killing of hundreds of thousands of civilians in Iraq, the torture of prisoners and displacement of millions, we will be feeling pay-backs while Bush is out of the office and in his bomb shelter at his Texas ranch leaving us to pay for his mistakes.

Instead of trying to bring democracy to Iraq, he should be trying to improve our own, and thereby setting an example for the world. We no longer have a government of democratic aspirations, but one of corporate plutocracy, and the world sees us as hypocritical, trying to force our form of government and immoral way of life on them.
