A pregnant woman was taken to a local hospital Thursday morning after a three-car accident at Stadium Boulevard and Providence Road, police said.

The woman, Codi King, of Columbia, was not injured and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, said Columbia police Sgt. Lloyd Simons.

The accident occurred at about 11:48 a.m., police said. The three cars were traveling south on Providence and were trying to get through the intersection before an oncoming ambulance, which was traveling west on Stadium, said Becky Dodson and Megan Jones, two of the drivers, at the scene.

Dodson, of Harrisburg, said she was unsure if the ambulance was going straight on Stadium or trying to turn onto Providence Road.

King rear-ended a car driven by Jones, pushing Jones’ car into Dodson’s, Simons said. Dodson and Jones said they both had to stop abruptly after crossing the intersection to yield for the ambulance.
