Senior forward Kalen Grimes was suspended indefinitely today by MU head basketball coach Mike Anderson.
Grimes' suspension came after an incident this weekend in his hometown of Florissant. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Grimes was involved in a fight outside of a Dairy Queen.
The incident comes days after another player, Demarre Carroll, was shot outside a downtown Columbia club early Thursday morning. According to the athletic department, Anderson issued a zero-tolerance policy after Carroll's incident. That policy dictated Grimes' suspension.
“Although the circumstances surrounding both Kalen and DeMarre differ a great deal, I understand the cumulative effect these events can have on the perception of a program and want to assure our fans that these incidents will be dealt with appropriately," Anderson said in a release today.
Grimes was the team's leading rebounder last season and averaged 6.9 points and 5.6 rebounds a game.
