Two men armed with handguns assaulted and robbed a group of six people standing outside a south Columbia apartment early Sunday morning, Columbia police Sgt. Roger Allen said.

The two men approached the victims around 4 a.m. outside an apartment in the 5000 block of South Providence Road and demanded money, Allen said. During the robbery, one of the victims was hit on the head with a gun butt and suffered minor injuries. The men also forced one person to the ground and kicked another person, Allen said.

“It looks like it was fairly quick,” Allen said.

After the robbery, the two suspects split up and ran in opposite directions, Allen said.

Police said Sunday that they had not found any of the robbers.
