Police warn robber might be dangerous

Columbia police released surveillance photos of a man they said pistol-whipped two north Columbia convenience store clerks during a robbery Sunday.

Police said the man pistol-whipped two clerks at Eagle Stop Service, 1704 N. Providence Road, several times and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register about 11 a.m. Sunday. Both clerks were treated at a local hospital and released, police said.

Columbia police Sgt. Ken Hammond said the man has a faded tattoo on the side of his neck.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the robber but warn that he might be armed and should not be confronted.
