A Columbia man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the Interstate 70 Eagle Stop Service store robbery, police said.

Police arrested Cory Crosby, 20, in Room 205 at Motel 6, 3402 I-70 Drive S.E.

A CrimeStoppers tipster identified Crosby after police released surveillance photographs of Crosby from the convenience store on Monday, Columbia police Sgt. Ken Hammond said. Police first went to his house on East Willowbrook Road, but no one was there.

“We received a confidential tip that he was hiding at the Motel 6,” Hammond said.

Crosby, who had been at the Motel 6 for several hours, was found with evidence that linked him to the robbery, Hammond said.

“The gun was not recovered from the motel room,” he said.

Two clerks were pistol-whipped during the robbery of the I-70 Eagle Stop Service store Sunday morning. The clerks were treated at a local hospital and released the same day and have been cooperating with police, Hammond said.

Crosby was being held Tuesday afternoon in the Boone County Jail. His bond had not yet been set as of about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
