Thanks for free concerts; please support the band

Thank you officers of Shelter Insurance for again sponsoring a wonderful summer concert series in the Garden. We Columbians are so fortunate to have a local company that gifts us not only with a free concert series every summer but with a beautiful garden year round. Many of us would never experience such a variety of music without this free concert series. The setting is perfect, and this year the weather actually cooperated.

The Community Band, with its 70 volunteers, is always the closing concert highlight. This year they had a wonderful varied program. While thousands attend this free concert, I just wish many of you would also pay for and attend the other Community Band concerts during the year. They are a wonderful community resource we need to support better.
