Woman robbed by man carrying knife

COLUMBIA-A Columbia woman was robbed Sunday morning by a man carrying a knife, according to the Columbia Police Department.

The incident happened at 1600 Towne Drive around 9:30 a.m., said Columbia police Sgt. Dianne Burnhard. The victim was walking and was approached by a man who showed a knife and demanded the victim’s purse, Burnhard said. The robber fled with the purse toward the Colony Apartments, Burnhard said.

Police are currently looking for any witnesses in the area, Burnhard said. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
