MU students to travel to Beijing for 2008 Olympics

The Missouri School of Journalism announced Monday it will send about 50 students/volunteers to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Participants will earn journalism credit and volunteer with the International Press Corps. MU and Renmin University in China will collaborate on candidate selection and training. Sun Weija, head of media operations for the Beijing Organizing Committee, and representatives from Renmin University and MU plan to sign a memorandum of understanding for the project at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Reynolds Alumni Center.

Weijia and staff members from MU’s International Programs division are scheduled to talk to students about the project at 5 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Auditorium.
