On behalf of Special Olympics Missouri, please extend my deepest gratitude to the volunteers, organizers, sponsors and spectators from Jefferson City and the surrounding areas that made the 2007 State Outdoor Sports Classic an incredible success. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of them.

Everyone, from athletes to staff members, benefited from the endless hospitality and support from the community. We would especially like to thank Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department for organizing the games for the past 14 years.

More than 700 athletes and coaches from around the state competed in softball events at Binder Park and Riverside Park, took to the links at the Railwood Golf Course and showed their skills in tennis competitions at Washington Park. Athletes enjoyed a variety of activities at Olympic Town and blew off some steam at the Victory Dance on Saturday night at Helias High School. Everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Although the Outdoor Sports Classic will not return to Jefferson City next year, we invite everyone to get involved in Central Area activities. Visit our Web site at somo.org for details. We appreciate all the support and hospitality over the past 14 years and look forward to seeing all of you again.
