Fire at Tomlin Hill Road home causes damage, no injuries

COLUMBIA — A fire at a Boone County home Thursday afternoon caused minor damage but no injures.

A Boone Electric Cooperative employee called firefighters to Curtis Denney’s home at 9031 S. Tomlin Hill Road around 2:45 p.m. The employee noticed smoke between the home’s southern wall and porch and called for help.

The fire was “on the verge of going to the attic,” said Boone County Fire Chief Steve Paulsell, but was contained within minutes after the fire department arrived at about 3 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Paulsell said.

Damage to the home was described as minimal. Flames did not reach the outside of the house and were contained inside.

Denney said the home on Tomlin Hill Road is owned by his father, Charles Denney. He said the home has been vacant since January.
