COLUMBIA — The American Heart Association is hosting its annual Heart Walk this Saturday at Stephens Lake Park.

Organizer Jennifer Hively said there will be activities for kids, heart-healthy snacks and free cholesterol screenings.

“The purpose of the heart walk is to encourage people to come out and be heart healthy,” Hively said.

Hively said the fundraiser generates money through sponsorships, as well as through communities and businesses creating teams that raise money themselves. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. The walk begins at 8:30 a.m. It is free and open to the public.
