Rock Bridge freshman Danielle Linneman threw a five-inning complete game shutout against the Smith-Cotton Tigers in Columbia on Monday night

COLUMBIA — Danielle Linneman not only started for the Rock Bridge softball team against Smith Cotton, but she also finished the game.

Linneman, a 14-year-old freshman, pitched her first varsity high schoolgame and led Rock Bridge to a 10-0 home victory Monday night. Linneman also hit a fierce line drive that brought home the team’s 10th run in the bottom of the fifth inning, causing the game to end by the 10-run rule.

However, Rock Bridge coach Joe Henderson said he was not impressed with his team’s performance.

“We’re 3-0, but we haven’t played the high quality opponents yet,” Henderson said. “We’ll see what we’re made of Thursday night. We play Jeff City Thursday night, then we’ll see how far we’ve come.”
