Bruins, Kewpies face tough task at tennis tournament

COLUMBIA — Good competition will be at a premium Friday and Saturday as schools from all over the region compete in the Great Eight high school girls tennis tournament.

Hickman will witness the brunt of that talent immediately as the Kewpies host defending Kansas state champion Blue Valley North at 10:45 a.m. Friday. Starting at No. 1 through No. 3 singles for the Kewpies will be sophomore Dina Kaissi, senior Carrie Ingersoll and senior Caitlin Hollandsworth respectively.

At Rock Bridge High School, coach Ben Loeb will be without his No. 1 singles player, senior Elizabeth Worsowicz. Starting in her place will be senior Whitley Zitsch. Senior Allison Wulff will play No. 2 singles and junior Lauren Kane will play No. 3.

Rock Bridge will start the tournament against Cape Girardeau Central at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Bethel Park and the Country Club of Missouri.
