The Hickman girls’ volleyball team defeated visiting Rolla 25-17, 25-14 on Thursday night to improve to 2-0.

The offense of senior Abby Nowlin and the defense of junior Chloe Perkins sparked the team.

Hickman coach Greg Gunn said the team has been focusing on ball control, making good passes to the setter and defense. The extra emphasis on defense paid off. Perkins tallied 17 digs.

“She’s all over the court,” Gunn said.

The Kewpies relied on a balanced scoring attack. Nowlin was the catalyst, contributing five aces and four kills. Perkins also added four kills, as did junior Leslie Gregory and senior Hannah Schaper.
