Bomb threat leads to temporary lockdown at Hickman

A bomb threat at Hickman High School Thursday morning led to a temporary lockdown at the school. About 11 a.m., a student found a message typed on a library computer, Assistant Superintendent Lynn Barnett said.

Barnett said the message, typed in the user log-in space, read, "I hate school enough to blow it up today. 12.15." The student immediately alerted staff.

Columbia Police Chief Randy Boehm said the school was searched and no bomb was found. The lockdown was brief, Boehm said, and has been lifted.

Hickman High School Principal Mike Jeffers said the school was on lockdown throughout lunch.

"I know it's unsettling, but we have to be safe and follow procedure," Jeffers said. "A threat is a threat."
