Three Illinois fumbles broke the game open for Missouri in the second quarter. After the Tigers scored a touchdown with 20 seconds left, Illini kick returner Chris Duvalt fumbled. The Tigers recovered and kicked a field goal. Safety Pig Brown scooped up an Illinois fumble at the Missouri goal line and ran it 100 yards for a touchdown. McGee fumbled on Illnois’ ensuing drive, and Brown recovered it again. The turnover led to a 69-yard Missouri touchdown drive.
