Local View: Editorial Cartoon-Ticket Scalping

Scalping of non-sporting events was legal before the recent change in the law, yet Ticketmaster did not profit (above their "convenience" fee) on those events. What logical argument is the cartoon making then?

Actually, scalping was illegal, just rarely enforced. In theory, now scalpers can buy large numbers of tickets, selling them through outfits like Ticketmaster at inflated prices. At any rate, the company must have wanted the law changed, as they lobbied heavily in that direction. But you're right--I do generally avoid logical arguments in my cartoons. Thanks for the comment.
