MU police are investigating whether the Columbia Missourian’s computer server was hacked into last week.

A server problem shut down the newspaper’s Web site — www.columbiamissourian.com — for more than three days. The site is now back online and fully operational.

The suspected system break-in occurred between 7 and 11 a.m. Thursday, MU police Capt. Scott Richardson said. Only the Missourian’s server is reported to have been compromised. The event was reported by a university systems security analyst, Mitchell Rackers, last Thursday at 11:25 a.m.

The Missourian will update with more information as it receives it.
