COLUMBIA — The MU women’s volleyball team received bad news on Tuesday when an MRI revealed that sophomore Julianna Klein tore her ACL during the Tigers’ Friday win over Houston.

Before her injury, Klein led the Tigers in kills per game with just under 4.5 and was third in the Big 12 in scoring.

MU coach Wayne Kreklow said on Monday that freshman Weiwen Wang will likely replace the Tigers’ leading scorer starting Wednesday against UMKC, but any other changes are still uncertain.

“It’s just a matter of trying to find out who’s best on the right side and who’s in the middle,” he said. “I kind of anticipate throughout the course of the year, we would just have to be moving people in and out.”

Kreklow said that the Tigers could switch their formation to a 6-2, which requires two setters and all six players to be capable of attacking.

Few teams play a 6-2, but Kreklow believes that Lei Wang and Luiza Jarocka give MU the personnel to be able to run it successfully.

“There’s a lot of different things we will potentially look at,” he said.
