Rock Bridge boys soccer wins home opener in dramatic fashion

Columbia — The Rock Bridge boys soccer team opened its home schedule with a 1-0 win Tuesday night over Quincy Notre Dame.

In a slow first half where neither team had many good chances, the best opportunity belonged to Quincy on a shot from just outside the 18-yard box. A diving save by senior goalkeeper Matt Albrechtkept the game scoreless.

The second half saw an increase in the pace of play, especially by the Bruins, but both teams still failed to put the ball in the net.

Sophomore Josh Dillon ended the game seven minutes into overtime with an arching shot to the far post to beat Quincy goalkeeper Kody Gerding.
