Senior Stefhon Hannah was named a preseason candidate for the Bob Cousy Award, a distinction that is annually awarded to the top point guard in the country. The list of candidates was released in Athlon Sports Magazine’s 2007-08 college basketball preview.

The reigning Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Hannah is one of four Big 12 players named to the list. Texas A&M’s Acie Law won it last year.

MU Womens Soccer: The MU womens soccer team moved up from 23rd to 20th in the Soccertimes.com Top 25 poll Tuesday after beating Iowa 2-0 Friday and Eastern Illinois 3-0 Sunday. The Tigers are 4-0 overall and face a very tough weekend schedule at the Stanford Invitational. MU is slated to play No. 1 Stanford Friday and No. 3 Santa Clara Sunday.

Hickman Softball: Hickman’s softball team lost to Helias Tuesday 7-5. Junior Laura Miller contributed a 3-4 performance and junior Shelby Leyden went 2-3, but the Crusaders provided too much offense. Junior Taylor Cowan took the loss.

The Kewpies play at New Franklin High School tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
