COLUMBIA — A bicyclist was injured Thursday evening after he was hit by a car on Rockhill Road near Broadway.

Chad Hicks, 27, was traveling eastbound on Broadway approaching Rockhill Road at about 7:55 p.m. Thursday when a car driven by Ming Wong, 42, of Columbia attempted to make a left turn off of Broadway and onto Rockhill Road. Wong did not see the bicyclist before making the turn, Columbia police said in a news release.

Hicks hit the front-passenger door of Wong's car and was partially thrown through the front-passenger window. He was listed in serious condition with injuries to his head and ear late Thursday at University Hospital.

A passenger in Wong's car — 30-year-old Yan-Qiu Wen — was also injured in the accident and taken to Boone Regional Hospital with a laceration to her face. Wen was treated and released.
