Text of Superintendent Phyllis Chase’s e-mail to school selection site panel

Thursday, September 13, 2007 | 6:20 p.m. CDT

This e-mail was sent at 10:10 a.m. Thursday to members of the committee that will recommend a site for a third comprehensive public high school. It was copied to members of the Columbia School Board.

Subject: Additional land proposal

Dear Committee Members:

This morning I was notified that an additional proposal was received by Mr. Walker late last night. He indicates that the proposal is from Tom Bass for a site in northern Columbia. The site is represented as being in the city limits with city sewer, water and natural gas. It is located between Highway 63 and 763. The asking price is $40,000 an acre for 69.5 acres.

It does not appear that the survey could be conducted on this property in time for the Tuesday night meeting.

However, the committee first needs to decide if it is willing to accept this proposal outside of the stated deadline.
