Bike tour prompts road closures

COLUMBIA — Several roads are closed today and more will close later as the Tour of Missouri rolls through Columbia. The cyclists are expected to arrive here between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The following streets will remain closed until 5 p.m.:

  • Walnut Street, between Seventh and Ninth streets
  • Eighth Street, from Broadway to Walnut streets
  • Ash Street, from Seventh to Ninth streets
  • Eighth Street, from Ash Street to Park Avenue

Rolling closures will occur 10 minutes before the arrival of the cyclists and will last for 10-20 minutes while they pass through. The time and duration of the closure will depend upon the pace of the cyclists. The following streets will be subject to rolling closures between 3:00 and 4:30 p.m.:

  • East and westbound New Haven Road
  • Highway 63 exit at Grindstone Parkway
  • Westbound lanes of Grindstone
  • North and southbound lanes of Rock Quarry Road
  • North and southbound lanes of College Avenue from Stadium Boulevard to University Avenue
  • Northbound lanes of College Avenue to Walnut Street
  • East and westbound lanes of Walnut Street from College Avenue to Sixth Street
  • Northbound lane on Sixth Street to Ash Street
  • Eastbound lane on Ash Street to Seventh Street
