COLUMBIA — A car, driven by a minor, drove off Old 63 and hit a telephone pole early Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Columbia Police Department.

The driver, 16, and both passengers, 21-year-old Kimberly Fowler and 19-year-old Tracy Woodburn, both of Columbia, were taken to University Hospital.

Woodburn was released and, as of 6 p.m. Sunday, Fowler was in fair condition, according to Jennifer Rickert, house manager at University Hospital. Because the driver is a minor, his condition was not released by hospital personnel.

The 1996 Honda Civic hit a telephone pole after driving off the east side of northbound Old 63 at Grindstone Creek, according to the press release.

Consumption of alcohol by the driver is suspected as a probable cause of the accident, according to the Police Department’s release.

As of Sunday, no charges had been filed.
