Finding fun with furry fashion

Autumn Barrier, 11, glances at a possum purse with her father, Bret Barrier, at Sunday’s 30th Annual Heritage Festival and Craft Show at Nifong Park. “Can you imagine if a cell phone goes off in this purse? On vibrate?” Bret Barrier asked his daughter. The purse, made by Ron Jansen of Kampsville, Ill., took nearly four hours to make — three hours to tan the hide and 45 minutes to turn the pelt into a purse.

Columbians celebrated the Heritage Festival, celebrating its 30th year, this weekend.
