BOONE COUNTY — Boone County firefighters extinguished a grass fire near North Route Z on Wednesday afternoon after a nearby resident reported the blaze.

Six fire trucks were dispatched at 4:05 p.m. to the 17000 block of Route Z, near Route FF. The fire, which appeared to cover 10 acres, was put out before it reached any of the nearby residences, said Gale Blomenkamp, division chief of the Boone County Fire Protection District.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire was unknown, Blomenkamp said.
