COLUMBIA — Planning and Zoning Commission member Mike Holden resigned today. Holden, who has served eight years on the commission, is moving out of the city soon and will no longer be eligible to serve. In addition, recent health problems have slowed his ability to work with the commission.
Holden submitted a letter of resignation to city Planning Director Tim Teddy this morning.
Upon leaving, Holden’s advice to his replacement, as well as the larger commission, is to look at the whole picture when considering proposals.
“I suffered from this when I first started on the Planning and Zoning Commission, it’s easy to fall into the trap to look at a proposal and say why it shouldn’t be done. But it should also be the job of the Planning and Zoning Commission to see what should be done.”
Holden, who has run once each for the Fourth Ward and the Sixth Ward City Council seat, owns Land Choice Title Co. His most recent bid for the Council was earlier this year when he was defeated by current Fourth Ward Councilman Jerry Wade.
