COLUMBIA — A home in north Columbia was burglarized early Sunday morning, Columbia police said.

Police were investigating the burglary, which occurred at a residence in the 1500 block of Raleigh Drive, and a series of attempted burglaries in the area, according to a police news release.

A 16-year-old resident saw an unknown person in the home, police said, but the burglar had left before officers arrived on the scene.

Officers also found evidence suggesting that the suspect may have tried to enter other homes in the area, police said.

Earlier that morning, police responded to a report of a prowler in the 1400 block of Raleigh Drive but were unable to locate anyone. Officers determined the prowler had attempted to enter a residence forcefully, according to the news release.

Police ask that anyone with any information about the incident call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
