COLUMBIA — The Rock Bridge girls golf team shot 406 to place seventh Monday in the Capital City Tournament at the Jefferson City Country Club. Pembroke Hill won with 351.

Meghan Mueller had the low round for the Bruins with a 96. Mueller said she found the greens to be challenging.

“You really had to stay below the hole, and you had to have the right touch to get it near the hole,” she said.

Although the team score was higher than normal, both Mueller and Bruins coach Melissa Melahn said the course was a good way to prepare for the Class 2 District 4 tournament next Monday at Innsbrook Country Club near Wentzville.

“It was a good test. We played a practice round (for districts) yesterday and they played better,” Melahn said. “This course is by far harder, and it gives us even more incentive to work hard this week.”
