COLUMBIA — The Hickman boys soccer team defeated Rock Bridge 2-1 Wednesday night at Rock Bridge Field to improve to 4-0 in Class 3 District 2 play.

The Kewpies had plenty of time to prepare for the game because they hadn’t played since Sept. 15.

“We had seven practices, and the guys did exactly what we worked on in those seven days,” Hickman coach Larry Thornburg said. “Mostly what we worked on was two-touch. There was very little dribbling tonight.”

Senior Evan Camden put the Kewpies (5-5-1 overall) ahead in the 16th minute after dribbling down the right side and beating Bruins senior goalkeeper Matt Albrecht to the far post.

Junior Graham Lloyd doubled the Kewpies’ lead 19 minutes later to send Hickman into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

Rock Bridge senior Matt Quetsch pulled the Bruins (0-2 in district play) within a goal with a long strike from 35 yards out in the 56th minute.
