COLUMBIA — The Columbia College men’s soccer team, behind the play of senior midfielder Sam Gelven, pushed its winning streak to three games by beating William Woods University 3-1 Thursday night at Owens Stadium. Gelven seemed to be everywhere for the Cougars, scoring two goals and assisting on another in a physical game.

“We were all over them to start the game,” Gelven said, “but let up too much before half. At the start of the second half, we got back at it and scored pretty quick. Then I finished it with that last one.”

Five yellow cards were handed out in the first half, with both teams fighting to stay tied for second place in the American Midwest Conference. The Cougars moved to 3-1 in the AMC and 4-8 overall.
