Milestones: Recognition of mid-Missouri residents

Brent Scheer has been named chief financial officer for Farmers National Title Insurance Co. Scheer is a certified public accountant formerly with Landers, Weiss and Company LLC. Farmers National Title Insurance Co. is a title insurance underwriter based in Columbia.

Katie Tegerdine has been named vice president of operations for Farmers National Title Insurance Co. Tegerdine had worked for First National Bank in Columbia.

Pam Ingles has been named agency coordinator for Farmers National Title Insurance Co. Ingles worked for Guaranty Land Title in Columbia.

A team of three MU College of Agriculture, Food and National Resources students and an instructor took second place in a competition against 14 other teams of military chefs in the International Food Service Executives Association’s annual military culinary competition in Washington. The team prepared a starter course of mussels steamed in white wine served with Parmesan sauce on a bed of braised greens and cream. The entree was honey-firecracker glazed pork tenderloin stuffed with fresh fruits. The students were led by chef Leslie Jett, an instructor in the MU hotel and restaurant management program. The team members are Colt Baxter of Imperial, who is a second lieutenant in the Army health professions scholarship program; Michael Smith of Union, who is a biology/pre-med student and a midshipman in the MU ROTC program; and Wade Ramirez of Centralia who is a hotel and restaurant management student and an Army reservist.
